What to know

"Free chlorine" is the active sanitizer, distinct from total chlorine.
Stabilizer (cyanuric acid) reduces chlorine's effectiveness — heavily-stabilized pools may need 2–3× the FC level to actually disinfect.
Cal-hypo also raises calcium hardness; trichlor tablets lower pH and add stabilizer.
Test 30 min after adding (pump on) before re-dosing.
